1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, work in a comparable way. In this notice we refer to all of them as “cookies”.
This notice covers the DBOT Estimator. It should be read with our privacy notice. Our website, digimasters.co.uk, has its own cookie policy.
2. How the app uses cookies
The app uses cookies only to:
- keep you signed in, and sign you in securely with Microsoft
- remember settings you choose, such as light or dark display, pounds or dollars, and which parts of an estimate you have opened
The app uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and no third party sets cookies through it. Its fonts and images are served from the app itself.
3. Why we do not ask for consent
Every cookie the app sets is either strictly necessary to provide the service you have asked for (signing you in) or remembers a choice you have made yourself on the page (such as dark display). Both are exempt from consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, so the app does not show a cookie banner. If we ever add a cookie that needs your consent, it will stay off until you switch it on.
4. The cookies we use
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| dm_session | Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in. Holds your email address, your level of access and how you signed in, signed so that it cannot be altered. Scripts on the page cannot read it. | 12 hours, or until you sign out |
| dm_oauth | Strictly necessary | Set only while you sign in with Microsoft, to check that the reply comes from the sign-in you started. | 10 minutes; removed when you return |
5. What the app keeps in your browser
These are stored on your device only. The app does not send them to us.
| Name | Kind | What it holds | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| watg-theme | Local storage | Light, dark or system display | Until you clear it |
| digimasters-cost-model | Local storage | Your display choices (currency, day or hour rates, time horizon), the client you last opened, and any what-if changes and scenarios you make on the workbook pages, which are held in this browser only | Until you clear it |
| estimator.scope | Local storage | Whether an estimate shows one year or the whole programme | Until you clear it |
| estimator.open.<number> | Session storage | Which programmes and epics you have unfolded in an estimate | Until you close the tab |
The workbook pages’ what-if changes can include the names of people on a costing line, because each change is filed under the line it changes. They never leave your browser.
6. Signing in with Microsoft
If you sign in with Microsoft, you go to Microsoft’s own sign-in page, which sets Microsoft’s cookies under Microsoft’s cookie policy. The app does not set or read them.
7. Your choices
You can delete the app’s cookies and stored settings at any time in your browser’s settings. Deleting dm_session signs you out; deleting the others puts your settings back to their defaults. Blocking cookies altogether will stop you signing in.
8. Do Not Track
The app does not track you across websites and does not allow third parties to do so, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track signal to switch off.
9. Changes to this notice
We will update this notice whenever the app’s cookies or storage change. The current version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
10. Contact us
If you have any questions about the app’s use of cookies, please email support@digimasters.co.uk or write to Data Protection, Digimasters Ltd, Runway East, 279 Tottenham Ct Rd, London W1T 7RJ.
